Amnesty International has condemned Hungary’s decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC), labeling it a “betrayal of all victims of war crimes,” Anadolu Agency reported. Secretary General Agnes Callamard criticized Hungarian leaders for undermining the ICC by meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the court for war crimes in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hungary announced its withdrawal shortly after Netanyahu’s visit to Budapest. Callamard accused Hungary of endorsing Israel\u2019s actions against Palestinians and described the withdrawal as an attempt to evade international justice. She urged the EU and ICC member states to demand Hungary arrest Netanyahu and protect the court’s integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ICC has issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu amid ongoing violence in Gaza, where over 50,500 people have died since October 2023.
