While his family has appealed the rejection\u2014which, under Turkish law, should suspend its consequences\u2014his healthcare access has yet to be restored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amnesty International criticized Turkey\u2019s handling of the case, stating that denying Saifi medical care violates international obligations, including the right to healthcare. The organization is calling on officials to act before his condition worsens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saifi and his family fled Afghanistan nearly a decade ago after he reportedly endured torture while serving in the military.
