Refugee returns to Syria dropped in 2025, with only 2,749 repatriations in 2024, due to security concerns in northeastern Syria. Meanwhile, a $158.5 million funding gap threatens UNHCR’s aid efforts, as only 8% of the required funds have been secured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agency provided cash aid to 56,000 vulnerable refugees, enrolled 55,000 Syrian children in Kurdistan schools, and opened six new schools.
