This step aims to enhance the country&#8217;s railway infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Director-General of the General Company for Railways, Jabbar Al-Alawi, stated in a press release that &#8220;the work is being carried out based on directives from the Prime Minister&#8217;s Office to study the rehabilitation of the Basra-Rabia line or identify an alternative, especially with the anticipated start of operations at the Faw Port docks by mid-2025.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al-Alawi added that &#8220;the General Company for Railways has signed a consultancy contract with the Italian company (PTV) to prepare preliminary designs and a feasibility study for the current railway line, which extends from Basra to Baghdad, then to Mosul, and finally to Rabia.
