This funding will assist the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the UN World Food Programme (WFP) in providing essential humanitarian aid in the refugee camps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the total contribution, \u20ac1 million will be allocated to UNHCR for protection operations, ensuring access to critical services such as registration, healthcare, accommodation, and sanitation. The remaining \u20ac2 million will enable WFP to deliver life-saving food assistance to the refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Italy’s ambassador to Bangladesh, Antonio Alessandro, highlighted the country’s commitment to the Rohingya population, as emphasized by Foreign Undersecretary Maria Tripodi during her recent visit to Dhaka. With limited livelihood options, Rohingya refugees heavily rely on humanitarian support, making funding a crucial challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UNHCR and WFP, along with the Bangladeshi government, are preparing the Joint Response Plan 2025 to address the humanitarian needs of both refugees and host communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It should be mentioned that nearly one million Rohingya refugees currently reside in Bangladesh, primarily in the Cox Bazar district and on the island of Bhasan Char. This situation represents one of the largest protracted refugee crises in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
