Polling in 11 EU countries, as well as the UK, Ukraine, and Switzerland, found that only 21% of respondents considered the US an ally, while 50% saw it as a partner of convenience. This shift was evident even in traditionally US-friendly nations like Poland and Denmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report\u2019s authors warned that declining trust in US foreign policy could weaken transatlantic relations, urging Europe to adopt a more pragmatic, self-reliant approach. Views on Trump\u2019s presidency also varied, with far-right supporters generally welcoming his return, while many in western and northern Europe saw it as negative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Divisions emerged on key global issues, including support for Ukraine and engagement with China. While some countries prioritized continued aid for Kyiv, others favored a diplomatic settlement.
