The Philippine government has declared January 27, 2025, a special holiday for Muslims in observance of Isra Wal Mi\u2019raj, a significant event in Islam marking the Prophet Muhammad\u2019s Night Journey and Ascension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin clarified that the holiday applies only to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and other Muslim communities recognized under the Muslim Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While not a nationwide holiday, Bersamin assured that Muslims in other areas, such as Metro Manila, are excused from work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
