A report from the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) indicates that since May 2024, over 782 civilians have been killed and 1,143 injured, with thousands trapped in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Testimonies reveal indiscriminate attacks targeting civilian areas and healthcare facilities, with survivors describing a city under constant bombardment. Many residents have fled their homes due to extensive looting and violence. The OHCHR also reported that civilians are detained on allegations of RSF collaboration, facing torture and other abuses in informal facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Critical infrastructure, including Al-Saudi Maternity Hospital, has been repeatedly shelled, resulting in civilian casualties. In a recent incident, an RSF shell hit the hospital, killing five, including a pharmacist. The ongoing crisis has led to over 80,000 refugees fleeing to neighboring South Sudan in just three weeks, adding to the one million already displaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
