The Iraqi General Authority for Heritage and Antiquities announced today, Saturday, the discovery of 478 archaeological artifacts in Babylon Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, the authority explained that a mission oversight committee, along with the director of the excavations department, visited site number in the Al-Fayadiyah region to review the excavation activities in Babylon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The site was divided into two points: (A) and (B). Point (A), located in the south, covers an area of 6000 square meters and consists of two layers: the first from the Sassanian period, had been removed due to erosion and natural factors, while the second dates back to the Old Babylonian period. Point (B), spanning 9000 square meters, revealed two residential units with rooms of varying dimensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The excavation team discovered 478 artifacts, including pottery jars, cuneiform texts, and cylindrical seals, according to the statement, which added that the work is ongoing to complete the scientific excavation within the specified timeframe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The oversight committee recommended that the full scope of the excavation work be documented through drawings and photography and that the discovered artifacts be recorded following the scientific procedures of the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
