The fifth edition of the “Mohammed VI Foundation” for African Scholars Quran Memorization, Recitation, and Tajweed Competition opened last Friday in the Moroccan city of Fes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition involves branches of the foundation from 48 African countries, with 118 participants (including 12 women) competing for the top positions in three categories of memorization and Tajweed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The categories of the competition include: complete memorization with recitation according to the Warsh narration of Nafi, complete memorization with recitation in various other readings and narrations, and Tajweed with memorization of at least five parts (Ajza).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Secretariat-General of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Scholars organizes this competition over three days, held remotely using video conferencing technology (Zoom).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A panel of judges, consisting of members from Morocco and other African countries, oversees the evaluation of the participants\u2019 performances from their base in Fes, and announces the winners at the end of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition aims to connect young Africans with the Holy Quran, encouraging them to memorize and recite it according to the rules of Tajweed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
