The attackers, from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), attempted to storm the post, but their efforts were repelled by security forces after a fierce exchange of fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The attack, which occurred in the restive South Waziristan tribal district, resulted in the deaths of five assailants, according to a military statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a separate incident in North Waziristan, Pakistani forces killed seven militants attempting to cross the border from Afghanistan. A large cache of ammunition and explosives was recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
