Using the AI tool “C the Signs,” a cancer prediction system, British general practitioners (GPs) have seen the cancer detection rate increase from 58.7% to 66.0%, the Guardian reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This medical technology analyzes a patient\u2019s medical records to compile their medical history, test results, prescriptions, and treatments, as well as other personal factors that might indicate a cancer risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tool also prompts GPs to inquire about any new symptoms. If it detects data patterns indicating a higher risk of a specific cancer, it suggests which tests or clinical pathways the patient should follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“C the Signs” is used in around 1,400 practices in England, about 15% of the total, and was tested in 35 practices in the east of England in May 2021, covering a population of 420,000 patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results, published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, indicate that the cancer detection rate rose from 58.7% to 66.0% by 31 March 2022, while the detection rate in practices not using the system remained similar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
