Devastating fighting between Sudan’s army and paramilitary forces has left large parts of the war-torn country inaccessible to aid workers, Arab News reported yesterday citing a Red Cross official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“There are plenty of areas we cannot access, sometimes because they are very dangerous, and sometimes we do not receive permission,” said Pierre Dorbes of the International Committee of the Red Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The conflict, raging since April 2023, has killed tens of thousands and displaced over 10 million people. With nearly 26 million facing acute food insecurity, volunteer groups have set up communal kitchens, providing around 2,000 meals per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, logistical hurdles in transferring funds hinder these efforts. In one town near South Sudan, half of those in need are leaving without receiving meals as no aid has reached the area due to the ongoing clashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
