The flooding has swept away homes, broken bridges and dams, and left villagers wading through knee-deep water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The situation is expected to worsen in the coming days, with the local meteorological office forecasting more heavy rain for the central and southern regions. The swollen Brahmaputra river, however, is expected to recede in the next few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The disaster has prompted the formation of more than 600 medical teams to treat flood victims, and the government has set up shelters to accommodate the displaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
