A state-owned power company in China plans to build the world\u2019s largest solar farm, capable of powering a small country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u00a38.5 billion project in Inner Mongolia will supply electricity to the Jing-Jin-Ji urban cluster, including Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 8-gigawatt facility can power about 6 million homes and will also include 4 GW of wind power, 4 GW of coal-fired power, 200 MW of solar thermal, and 5 GWh of energy storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Operated by China\u2019s Three Gorges Renewables Group, construction is set to start in September 2024 and be completed by June 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
