The National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has decided to replace references to the “Babri Masjid” with the term “three-domed structure” in school textbooks, Muslim Mirror reported yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move has been criticized by Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party. Owaisi stated that India’s children should know the Supreme Court called the demolition of the Babri Masjid an “egregious criminal act.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He argued that students should be made aware that a functioning mosque was desecrated in 1949 and then demolished by a mob in 1992, rather than “glorifying criminal acts.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
