The United Nations’ Food Agency projects that a staggering 12.4 million people in Afghanistan will face acute food insecurity from May to October 2024, Amu TV reported yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the World Food Programme (WFP), 2.9 million of these individuals are classified in the emergency Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Phase 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report also noted that 4 million people, including 3.2 million children under five, are acutely malnourished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Compounding the crisis, the WFP stated that at least 23.7 million Afghans will require humanitarian assistance in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recent devastating floods in six provinces have only exacerbated the situation, destroying homes, agricultural fields, and livestock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
