A court in Islamabad has nullified the 10-year prison sentences handed down to former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his close aide, ex-Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Al Jazeera reported yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sentences were related to a case involving the alleged leaking of state secrets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Khan and Qureshi were convicted by a special court in January, just days before the country’s general elections. However, the Islamabad High Court has now declared the sentences void.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The so-called “cypher case” centered around a diplomatic cable that Khan claimed contained evidence of a conspiracy to remove him from power in April 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
