The US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, announced on Wednesday that the United States does not recognize the Taliban as the ruling authority in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kirby’s statement was made during a press conference where Kirby emphasized that the Taliban had not fulfilled any of the commitments it made when it came to power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The US official stated: “The Taliban has not fulfilled any of the commitments it made when it came to power, including forming an inclusive government and respecting human rights, especially the rights of women and girls.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also pointed out that the United States is closely monitoring the situation in Afghanistan and continues to support the Afghan people through humanitarian and diplomatic aid, adding that they are working with international partners to pressure the Taliban to fulfill its promises and make progress in critical areas, including counterterrorism and ensuring human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It should be mentioned that the situation in Afghanistan continues to be tense, amid reports of human rights violations and deteriorating humanitarian conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
