In a ceremony on Tuesday, Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities marked the completion of a multi-year restoration project on the historic 14th-century Mosque of Altunbugha al-Maridani in Cairo, Reuters reported yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mosque, built in 1338-40 CE during the Mamluk Sultanate era, underwent a two-phase renovation process, the news agency mentioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first phase from 2018 to 2021 focused on the exterior and minaret, while the second 18-month phase addressed the interior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The European Union and Aga Khan Foundation provided funding support for the restoration efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
