The death toll from flooding and other impacts of heavy rains in Kenya has risen to 228, Reuters reported yesterday citing the Interior Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The torrential downpours have caused widespread flooding and landslides across the country in recent weeks, with further worsening expected in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Further flooding is expected in low lying areas, riparian areas and urban areas, while landslides\/mudslides may occur in areas with steep slopes, escarpments and ravines,” the ministry said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deluges have destroyed homes, roads, bridges and other infrastructure across East Africa’s largest economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
