In a major counterterrorism operation, the Moroccan police have arrested five individuals allegedly connected to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, authorities announced on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, the suspects, aged between 22 and 46, were apprehended in several cities across the country, including Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, and Essaouira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The suspects had pledged allegiance to the ISIS caliphate and expressed their intention to carry out terrorist attacks against key installations and security agencies,” the bureau said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investigation also revealed that one of the members was an electronics expert who planned to manufacture explosive devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moroccan security forces have been praised for their continued efficiency and vigilance in combating the terrorist threat. “This success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our security forces, who have prevented a major threat to our national security,” said a government spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
