According to the news agency, it seeks to bridge digital divides, accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and encourage the development of regulatory frameworks for AI systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
US envoy to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, emphasized the importance of capacity building and closing digital divides to ensure everyone benefits from AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She described the resolution as a significant step towards leveraging AI for saving lives, reducing poverty, protecting the planet, and creating a more equitable world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan highlighted the historic nature of the resolution, co-sponsored by over 100 countries, in fostering safe and trustworthy AI systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He underscored the framework’s emphasis on global collaboration, fair access, risk management, privacy protection, prevention of misuse, and mitigation of bias and discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
