Addressing the U.N.\u2019s top human rights body, Antonio Guterres warned that the world is becoming “less safe by the day” due to the increasing number of conflicts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Guterres also emphasized the importance of human rights, called for debt relief for the world’s poorest countries, and urged increased spending to combat climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the session, the U.N. human rights chief, Volker T\u00fcrk, also criticized attempts to undermine the U.N.’s legitimacy and work, describing it as destructive and betraying those who rely on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
