On the sidelines of his participation in the Munich Security Conference 2024, Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammad Shiya Al-Sudani urged the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to encourage world countries to repatriate their citizens from al-Hol camp in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to his office, Mr Al-Sudani’s statement came during meeting the President of the ICRC Spoljaric Eger, while attending the Munich Security Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement office highlighted the importance of the cooperation between Iraq and the International Red Cross, describing the organization’s activities in Iraq as beneficial and essential for the Iraq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PM emphasized that Iraq has fulfilled its obligations by repatriating its citizens, stating that international cooperation will help reduce the risk of the camp and its inhabitants being vulnerable to extremism and recruitment by remnants of terrorist groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spoljaric Eger reaffirmed the Red Cross’s commitment to encouraging major countries to strengthen stability in the region, and to halt conflicts and violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al-Hol camp is a refugee camp on the southern outskirts of al-Hawl town in northern Syria, close to the Syria-Iraq border. The camp houses thousands of ISIS families from different nationalities and are feared of being radicalized and recruited.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
