Volker Turk also expressed alarm at the killing of approximately 30 others in attacks over the weekend in central Mali, a particular hotbed of violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rebel violence that started in northern Mali in 2012 spread to the centre of the country in 2015, when Katiba Macina \u2013 an al-Qaeda-affiliated group \u2013 was established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
