One month ahead of the painful martyrdom anniversary of Imam Musa Al-Kadhim, peace be upon him, large crowds of Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, began walking from southern Iraq to the capital, Baghdad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pilgrims have begun their on-foot journey from the provinces of Basra, Dhi Qar, and Maysan and are expected arrive in Baghdad in about five weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pilgrimage is known as the “Second Arba\u2019een” as it sees millions of pilgrims from Iraq and other Arab and foreign countries, who come to perform pilgrimage and to renew their pledge of allegiance to their Imam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The martyrdom of Imam Al-Kadhim, peace be upon him, is a significant event in Shia history; as it is a reminder of the persecution that Shia Muslims have faced throughout history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
