61 dead or wounded, 12 missing as flash floods hit 13 provinces of Afghanistan

At least 61 people were killed or wounded and 12 are missing in latest flash floods which hit 13 provinces of Afghanistan during the recent days.

 

At least 61 people were killed or wounded and 12 are missing in latest flash floods which hit 13 provinces of Afghanistan during the recent days.

According to the latest reported presented during an emergency meeting of natural disasters management committee, at least 23 provinces were hit by flash floods during the recent days but fatalties and losses were reported in 13 provinces.

The report further added that 32 people were killed, 12 are missing, and 29 others were wounded in the flash floods, mainly in Faryab, Herat, Badghis, Jawzjan, and Balkh provinces.

At least 1860 houses were totally damaged while 11081 houses were partially damaged due to the flash floods, the report added.

The Chief Executive of the Unity Government instructed the relevant authorities to coordinate with the provincial officials and take immediate steps to provide aid to affected families, the Office of the Chief Executive said in a statement.
