On the lines of similar initiatives in Iran, Iraq, Turkey, volunteers from the Kashmir chapter of “Who is Hussain?” took the initiative of setting up a “Wall of Kindness” in Srinagar, a first of its kind in the city.

The team of volunteers got together to put up the wall where people can donate new and old clothes, blankets, shoes, and other necessary data-x-items for those in need, irrespective of religion, caste or creed, to access without apprehension.

The idea is not only to encourage kindness but also to inculcate a sense of giving for the greater good of society.

“Who is Hussain” is an organization founded in 2012 by a group from London, England, seeking to let the world know about Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his uprising against the tyrant of the time in the 7th century AD.

“We aim to inspire individuals through the timeless example of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, and the values he stood for; those of justice and dignity,” according to the organization’s website.
