The Global Nonviolence Organization condemned abusive practices committed by ‘despotic Bahraini regime against the Shiite majority in the country’, asking the international community to stop the shameful blind eye about what is happening in that State from the ongoing violations of human rights for over five years.”

The organization said in a statement that “the Bahraini regime has recently attempted to humiliate the people by targeting a large segment of wage earners through the closure of an economic facility that provide hundreds of opportunities for workers in Bahrain.”

The organization added, “Rhe so-called board of directors of the Bahrain Livestock Company declared the shutdown of the central slaughterhouse in the town of Sitra under the pretext of the absence of the economic feasibility of this project, which is in fact representing a direct targeting for the source of living of hundreds of Shia, in a continuation of repression against the Shia majority.” The organization pointed out that the listed company confirmed the suspension of the Central slaughterhouse ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, which makes the status of workers in the project on the line during the holy month.”
