Outstanding participation of new converts in Australia’s Muharram mourning ceremonies

the beginning of the lunar month of Muharram to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein

Large numbers of Muslims in different cities of Australia have been taking part in the ceremonies held since the beginning of the lunar month of Muharram to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.

The ceremonies in the cities of Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Canberra, Perth and elsewhere, have also witnessed the growing participation of new Muslim converts.

The ethnic, racial, and linguistic differences have not stopped the massive presence of Muslims in these ceremonies, either.

Shia Muslims started holding ceremonies from Thursday, Muharram 1, to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his companions.

Muharram mourning ceremonies reach their climax on Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram and the day that the Master of Martyrs was martyred.
