Karbala’s local government expected the arrival of pilgrims from more than 60 countries to perform Arbaeen rituals.
Jassem al-Fatlawi, the deputy governor of holy Karbala, told Shiawaves, that the number of foreign pilgrims will increase this year, expecting the arrival of millions of pilgrims from more than 60 Arab and European countries, along with the millions of Iraqi pilgrims from various Iraqi cities.
Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein and his brother al-Abbas, peace be upon them, is located, to perform mourning rites.
Last year, around 20 million pilgrims from all over the world gathered in Karbala to attend the mourning ceremonies.
