Najaf witnesses the influx of millions of pilgrims from Iraq, Islamic, and non-Islamic countries

 

The 28th day of the month of Safar (the second month in the lunar Hijri calendar) marks the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as well as Imam Hassan (AS), the second Shia Imam. 

Muslims all over the world commemorate the Prophet of Islam’s martyrdom by holding special mourning ceremonies.  

The holy city of Najaf witnesses the influx of millions of pilgrims from Iraq, Islamic, and non-Islamic countries.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in about 570 AD in Mecca. He was granted to be the final prophet by Allah at the age of 40. He, peace be upon him and his progeny, was martyred at the age of 63 after 23 years of disseminating the message of Islam.  

Safar also marks the martyrdom of Imam Redha (AS). Mourners are set to mark the sad anniversary on the last day of the lunar month, which falls on November 9 this year.
