Karachi Police brutally tortured and arrested renowned rights activist Sayyed Rashid Rizvi when he was leading a peaceful protest in Old Rizvia Society by families of Shias who were subjected to enforced disappearance.

Karachiites believe that the torture and arrest was part of a crackdown being ordered by the PTI-led federal government to gag the voices of peaceful rights activists, civil society, students and youth organisations ahead of Saudi Crown Prince MBS visit to Pakistan.

The families of missing persons have been running from pillar to post for a long time with their legitimate demand that the victims of enforced disappearances should be produced in courts for trial if they are booked under any case, otherwise they should be released forthwith.

They say undeclared arrest and detention was violation of fundamental rights of those Pakistani citizens and they want rule of law in Pakistan but PTI government too continue to victimise such people who demand rule of law.

Sayyed Rashid Rizvi was shifted to unknown place and no details were issued by police.
