An appeal hearing in the case against Bahraini female detainee Medina Ali wrapped up on Sunday with a decision to adjourn the proceedings until September 9.

Ali was detained last May and later sentenced to three years in prison following a trial marred by reports of torture and forced confessions.

During her time in detention Ali has repeatedly alleged that she is being denied access to proper medical care.

Earlier this year, she observed a hunger strike over her ill-treatment at Bahrain’s Isa Town Women’s Detention Centre.
