At least four people have been killed and several others sustained injures in a car bomb attack claimed by ISIS Takfiri group in the Shia populated Karradah of Baghdad.

According to security and medical sources, the explosion took place on Friday night at a traffic police compound in Baghdad’s Karradah neighborhood, which has been frequently targeted in recent years.

Interior Ministry spokesman Saad Maan said in a statement that a police lieutenant colonel was among those killed in the terrorist attack, adding that the terrorist had detonated his explosive-laden vehicle at the gate of the compound after he had failed to enter it.

Shortly after the incident, ISIS Takfiri terrorist group, which has been wreaking havoc in Iraq and neighboring Syria over the past years, claimed responsibility for the deadly bomb attack.

In July last year, over 320 people, including women and children, were killed in one of the deadliest bombings to hit the capital’s busy neighborhood.
