The Quranic Affairs Office of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as Hashd al-Shaabi, organized Quranic sessions in the liberated areas of Mosul.

According to Qaaf news agency, the sessions involve different programs such as recitation of the Quran, speeches on the concepts of the Quran and answering questions on Quranic teachings and concepts.

The activities are aimed at promoting the Quranic culture and boosting the morale of the PMU fighters.

However, a combination of concentrated attacks by the Iraqi military and the volunteer forces, who rushed to take arms after top Iraqi cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani issued a fatwa calling for the fight against the militants, blunted the edge of ISIS offensive and later made the terror group withdraw from much of the territories it had occupied.
