The Pakistani Taliban targeted a Shia imambargah with a powerful car bomb, killing at least 24 people and injuring nearly 100 others at a crowded market in northwest Pakistan’s restive tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

The blast is the latest in a series of attacks targeting the minority Shias in the Sunni-majority Pakistan – was so powerful that it completely shattered the car in which the bomb was planted and damaged several vehicles parked nearby.

Adam Center for Defending Rights and Freedom condemns the terrorist attack calling on the Pakistani government to take serious security measures of the Shia populated areas and husseiniyahs.

The center expressed in a statement a strong condemnation overthe terrorist attack and other criminal acts based on sectarian hate in Pakistan.

The blast struck the women’s entrance of the imambargah in the remote Parachinar.
