Bahrainis angry at regime’s move to remove Muharram mourning banners

Authorities gave no casualty figures for the clashes

 

Bahrain’s Shia endowment expressed regret Tuesday over a move by police to take down Muharram mourning banners and flags, an action that sparked clashes earlier in the day.  

Authorities gave no casualty figures for the clashes, which saw police fired tear gas and birdshot, AP reported.

Bahrain has been the scene of regime crackdown on people for over 4 years.

Since mid-February 2011, thousands of anti-regime protesters have held rallies in the streets of Bahrain, initially calling for political reforms but gradually shifting to calls on the Al Khalifa dynasty to cede power following the harsh crackdown on peaceful protesters.

Scores of people have been killed and hundreds of others injured in the Manama regime’s ongoing crackdown on anti-government rallies.
